My artistic practice relies on the unique essence of perception as a child and comments on the fictional analogies behind memory and storytelling. Thus continuously interested in the analysis of auto fictive concepts, this work no longer concerns ideologies of the past, but now examines the intangibility and longing of a future self. With a strong desire to better understand the female reproductive system, Butterflies In My Stomach, 2022 comments on the tremendous ambiguities around menstruation, fertility and conception. While constructing a personal and fictional story, this series explores a fantastical narration of what goes on within the membranes of the ovaries. Through the navigation of an unknown experience, the work allows viewers to enter a dream-like sequence of contemplation about childhood, adulthood, growth, cycles of change and yearning to understand evolution.
